About Stephen

Stephen Davis is a husband to Jennifer, a father to two lively boys and one beautiful daughter, and a devoted follower of Jesus. He enjoys camping and playing in the backyard with his kids, and he enjoys running almost every day. His hometown is Collierville, Tennessee, a suburb of Memphis, and he is a huge Memphis Tigers fan. Stephen currently lives with his family in Guntersville, Alabama, his wife’s hometown.

Stephen holds two degrees from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies (emphasis in Youth & Family Ministry) in 2006 and his Master of Theological Studies in 2008.

Stephen’s ministry experience includes youth ministry internships with Sycamore View Church of Christ in Memphis, Tennessee, Westchurch Church of Christ in Perth, Australia, and Brentwood Hills Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee. Stephen formerly served as Youth Minister at Decatur Christian Church in Decatur, Alabama, which led to the unique experience of being part of a church “merger.” Decatur Christian Church merged with Hartselle Christian Church to form Lifebridge Christian Church, where Stephen was a leader in the areas of children’s ministry, student ministry and home group ministry.

In January 2013, Stephen and his family ventured out of the South, heading for a strange land of corn, soybeans and sub-zero winters. The move to Kokomo, Indiana gave Stephen the opportunity to to lead an exciting ministry to children and families at Fairfield Christian Church. In June 2015, Stephen and Jennifer moved their family back to Alabama so they could raise their kids near grandparents and other family members.

Stephen’s greatest passion is making disciples and helping others to make disciples. God has used Stephen’s experience both as a father and as a minister to children and youth to open his eyes to one of the greatest needs in the church today, the need for home discipleship among Christian families. Stephen believes deeply that parents are called in Deuteronomy 6 to be the main spiritual leaders and disciple-makers of their own children.

As Stephen seeks to help parents lead their kids into lifelong relationships with God, he finds great joy in the power of God’s story that is found in the Bible and continues throughout history. As a teacher and an organizer, Stephen uses techniques and resources that help children and families see the bigger picture of God’s Story. Each individual story in the Bible is just one small chapter in the greater narrative of scripture, and if we do not bring it all together in a way that kids can comprehend, we are doing a great disservice to the children and families in our churches.

This website exists to share stories that invite people into the greatest story ever told, the story of God and His son Jesus. Music, books, real-life examples and teaching resources all serve to tell stories that point to God’s Story, and hopefully this site will help people find resources and inspiration to jump into the narrative of God’s work in this world.
